Meet the Staff

    Ms. Rathjen

I graduated from The University of North Texas in 1996 with a 3.87 GPA.  I have a BS in Education and a minor in math.  But I wasn't always this "scholarly."  After graduating from Grand Prairie High in 1989, I was sent to UT Arlington (not my first choice - it was a boy issue...).  I failed miserably (I had a 1 point something GPA!) because for one, I didn't EVEN want to be there, and secondly, I was having too much fun to think about class!  I took a year off from school.  Mom said if I wanted to go back, I had to pay for it.  Got some lame job at a health insurance company and made $5/hr.  It was a no-brainer.  Realizing I couldn't live on my own making that kind of money and not having an education, I decided to go back to school...night school.  I took in nice and slow and proved to myself that I was still pretty smart and could handle it.  Finished up my basics at Northlake Jr. College and moved on to the Mean Green!  Did so darn well that I was on the Dean's List for 3 semesters and the President's List for one semester; became a member of Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society and Golden Key National Honor Society.  I made my momma and myself very proud. =)  I have been teaching 7th grade math ever since (20 years plus).
